What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi permanent fibres applied individually to natural lashes, bonded with medical grade, formaldehyde-free adhesive. To compliment the eye shape, and create length and fullness. 

 

Can eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes? 

To put it simply, No. It is important to do research, and select an experienced technician. If eyelash extensions are applied properly with minimal adhesive usage, it will not cause damage to the natural lashes. 

If improperly trained, damage can occur if the technician does not take into account the natural lash condition, prior to application, which can result in improper application, weighing down the natural lash.

 

Who is a good candidate for eyelash extensions?

The ideal client for eyelash extensions is anyone who’s natural lash health is in good standing, with a full and healthy lash line, with no underlying allergies, or hair loss conditions. 

 

Who is not a good candidate for eyelash extensions?

Clients with damaged, or fragile natural lashes, extreme sensitivity, allergies to cyanoacrylate, or have medical conditions such as: alopecia, glaucoma, or blepharitis are not good candidates for eyelash extensions.

 

Can I get eyelash extensions if I’m pregnant?

You can have lashes done during pregnancy, but it is not recommended, here’s why:

Due to fluctuating hormones, irritations can be developed much easier, with all the nutrients going straight to the baby, retention can not be guaranteed. Also it is a lengthy service, and will be uncomfortable laying down for a long period of time, with little to no bathroom breaks. 

 

What is the difference between classic and volume? 

Classic sets are best suited for clients who desire a natural look. This is achieved by applying 1 extension : 1 natural lash at a time. Providing the client with length and the appearance of a fuller lash line. 

Volume sets are best suited for clients who want a denser lash line, these sets mimic the look of strip-lashes. Applied by placing properly weighted fans bonded together at the base to each natural lash.

How much do eyelash extensions cost?

Eyelash extensions range in pricing, it is important to check artists pricing within your area, as it may vary city to city. 

 

How long will my initial appointment take?

Application of a full-set of eyelash extensions will take 2-3 hours depending on the fullness of the natural lash line.

 

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Arrive to your appointment on time, with fully cleansed lashes, free of makeup and buildup. 

Avoid caffeine and any other stimulants prior to the appointment, as this can cause fluttery eyes, therefore making it difficult for application.

Be prepared to lay down for 2-3hrs. 

 

What type of eyelash extensions are used? 

Our eyelash extensions are made from 100% Cruelty free, high quality synthetic PBT fibres.

 

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Eyelash extensions can last anywhere from 3-5 weeks depending on your natural lash shed cycle, as well as aftercare.

 

What is a fill and how often will I require one? 

A fill is an appointment within the 2-4 week mark, following your full set. The lash line must have 40% or more eyelash extensions remaining to be considered a fill. During the appointment, outgrown eyelash extensions are safely removed, and the lash line is refilled with fresh extensions! Fills are typically half the time of the initial appointment at half the price. 

 

How do I clean my eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions can be cleansed by using an oil free cleanser or a specially formulated lash bath at the least a few times a week.

 

Can I apply mascara to eyelash extensions?

It is not recommended to wear mascara with eyelash extensions, as it is hard to remove and can result in rubbing and pulling both the natural lash as well as the extension.

 

Can I wear makeup with eyelash extensions?

Although eyelash extensions provide you with instant glam, you may still want to wear makeup. Makeup can be worn as long as you choose oil free products around the eye area, when applying and removing makeup. 

 

Can I swim with eyelash extensions?

Yes, it is recommended to wait until the 24hr mark has passed before swimming, and to keep in mind that chlorine and salt water can affect retention, therefore thorough cleansing must be done immediately after.

 

How soon before an event should I get eyelash extensions?

If you are attending an event or leaving for vacation, it is recommended to have your lashes done a day or two prior to ensure the set is fresh.

 

How do I know if I’m allergic to eyelash extensions?

Prior to the application appointment, a consultation is necessary to determine if you are a good candidate for eyelash extensions. Technicians should go over realistic expectations, contraindications and perform a patch test. A patch test is done by the technician placing a few eyelash extensions on each eye, if no reaction is apparent within 24-48 hours, you may resume the service, if a reaction occurs you are not a good candidate for eyelash extensions and should return to the technician to have the lashes removed. 

 

What if I experience an allergy?

If an allergy is apparent prior to your eyelash extension application it is important that you contact your technician immediately to have them removed. 

To treat an allergy at home, use cold compresses, or Benadryl to soothe. 

If the allergy is severe please see urgent care. 

 

Can eyelash extensions be removed?

Eyelash extensions will gradually fall out with the natural lash cycle, or can be safely removed by a lash artist using a gel or cream remover.
